Pilates is a gentle, non-impact exercise programme that works on increasing your core stomach and back strength, flexibility and balance whilst allowing you to work at your own level.

The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) has deisgned a modified Pilates programme based on original Pilates principles developed by Joseph Pilates over 100 years ago. These original exercises have been adapted by physiotherapists to enable them to be suitable for those with injuries as well as the general population.

This form of dynamic stabilisation retraining reconditions the body from the centre core, the inner core muscles lying deep into your abdominal/back area. These Matwork and standing exercises aim to promote core stability, flexibility, endurance, postureal awareness and aid in correcting muscle imbalances.

Regular and specific practice of Pilates can provide the following benefits:

Physio2pilates

Physio 2 Pilates (P2P) is run by Zoe Rex, a Physiotherapist and APPI Pilates Instructor.

Physio 2 Pilates is a specialist Pilates and physiotherapy clinic based in Shirley, Solihull. Our Pilates classes are available for beginner to progressive levels so you can work at ta level that feels right for you and progress at your own pace.

We have the knowledge and skills to provide pilates based exercises to prevent injury, improve posture and help obtain better overall health. We feel it is important to make sure that our clients get the care and attention required to feel confident to exercise. For this reason all our classes are limited to a maximum of 12 participants per class and some classes have smaller numbers. This allows us to monitor progression and ensure accurate technique is performed through all exercises.
